The opportunity for all of us to fulfill the big dreams of Rena HY”D
Almost 4 years have passed since that Friday morning when Rena Schnerv was murdered in the Ein Dani spring near the settlement of Dolev. From the attack that shocked the country, an organization of kindness was established, which is all about love for the people, for the land of Israel and for the Torah.
The association, which was established after Rena's murder, was the way for the family and close friends to spread Rena's light, to tell about her acts of kindness, precisely for choosing life: "Part of choosing life is to choose to continue Rena's legacy, the legacy of kindness, the Torah and unity and to strengthen the The enterprise that has already begun for all the people of Israel, everywhere, with joy and power," said Rabbi Eitan Schnerv, Rena's father. "They wanted to destroy - we come to build."
Every year the association continues to expand - as do the many needs of the people of Israel.
The association carries out private and public projects on a national scale out of a desire to illuminate, benefit and multiply kindness and virtues in the world. A significant part of the association's activity is done for the general public who is on the edge, who sometimes does not know at all who is behind the act of kindness and receives a "finished product" in his hands.
Between each of the philanthropic projects runs a line from friend to Rena, and the concept of the association is to multiply good deeds that reflect her way of life, her world of values and the actions she loved to do. Among the projects carried out by the association, a particularly favorite is the "Shulchan Shabbat" project. This is a venture that brings to light Rene's great love for the Shabbat table and family meals. The project "Shulchan Shabbat" operates in a number of locations throughout the country, during which Shabbat and holiday dinners open to the various audiences are held by individuals or groups. Rena was murdered a short time after she finished cooking delicacies the Shabbat meals.
Another project that the association is leading is the construction of springs, observatories and nature spots throughout the country in memory of Rena, and in particular in the Galilee region and Judea and Samaria. On Passover 2015, a new spring named "Ein Rana" was inaugurated in the settlement of Meola in the Jordan Valley, and pergolas in memory of Rena decorate walking paths and various observation points, for the well-being of travelers and their grip on the territory of our country. Together with the Yona family from the Hispin in the Golan, the association established “Pakal Rana" - social boxes scattered in springs in the country, containing things that travelers may need during a trip - from garbage bags, to cutlery, and coffee supplies to food.
The association operates a chain of second-hand stores that go by the name “Sivuv Sheni" - stores operated by volunteers, and sell clothes for only one shekel.
As of today, there are more than 35 stores in over 20 cities. Last week a new store was inaugurated in Beit El, and next week we will inaugurate a new store in the city of Sderot, in the hope that it will be able to interest the residents and help them after the complex security situation they have been through. The "second round" project was born in Rena's city of residence - Lod. Rena Hid helped a lot in operating a community charity shop in the city, and in her memory it was decided to strengthen the project and move it to other cities and neighborhoods.
Additional projects in Rena's memory are the increase of Torah study with over 80 study points and over 12 midrashes throughout the country, projects to reduce the use of screens - something that Rana aspired to every day, a matchmaking project, assistance to agriculture and farm owners to deal with agricultural crime, and more, and for each project - the personal connection to Rena.
These days, the association is embarking on a crowdfunding campaign, which will allow it to continue spreading Rana's light in a variety of projects of kindness and multiplying goodness in the people of Israel
