Nava midber – A Project in Memory of Metanya Stern z”l

Metanya was entirely a man of education and the Land of Israel.
He loved nature, the desert, the open spaces, and especially the natural springs scattered throughout our land.
Metanya would immerse himself in every water source he came across, in any weather.

Seven years ago, Metanya was killed in a car accident on his way to a hike with his students.

We, the youth of Tekoa, together with his family, thought about the most meaningful way to commemorate Metanya, and we decided to establish a beautiful spot near Tekoa D, his hometown, which would honor one of his most prominent qualities – his love of the land.
This spot will be a natural and welcoming place where residents and visitors can relax, connect to the earth, and feel the unique spirit of the area.

The site will include a natural wading pool, powered by an advanced water purification system called a "Green Basin" – an ecological system that cleans the water while preserving nature.

In addition, the space will include two large lawns and seating areas that will provide a pleasant and comfortable space for rest and gathering near the pool. It will be an ideal place for children’s play and family recreation.

A fruit orchard will also be planted, commemorating Metanya through agriculture and adding a natural, grounding feel to the area.

This project, combining nature, ecology, and community, will create a space that invites everyone to enjoy the land and remember Metanya’s values and vision.

We are proud to continue Metanya’s path and to create a place that will inspire and remind us of his deep love for the land and the environment.

You are invited to help us commemorate Metanya and donate as you are able.
Donations can be made from tithe (ma’aser) money.

The campaign, payments, and receipts are in cooperation with B’Tzalmo Organization (Amuta) 58062204
