.We are all people working in the field of education and psychology, seeing kids day to day
.We started by observing the children themselves
:After years of working within the system, it became clear to us
.A large number of children need something else in order to grow and integrate into society
They need a space – one that sees them, speaks to them honestly and at eye level, and gives them the tools to .function and realize their potential
Merhav is a nonprofit organization that operates hands-on, development-focused rooms for crafts such as woodworking within schools. These spaces are designed to help children build identity, resilience, and coping skills
This year, Merhav is active in 35 schools, reaching thousands of children, connecting both students and staff to hope, mental well-being, and life.
Within each Merhav space, our facilitators and National Service volunteers work to create real change in a wide variety of arenas –
.In the school’s climate, in mutual respect, and in children's ability to find themselves despite the difficulties
.Restoring the light to their eyes, this is the job of Merhav
:Merhav is now launching a crowdfunding campaign
:We have several goals
A. To grow – by 30%
.Next year, we aim to operate in 50 schools and make a meaningful impact in each one
B. To professionalize
.More training. More learning. More courses. More professional development and guidance
More preparation before the work even begins – so that when a coordinator enters a school, he or she is truly ready to make a difference
C. New horizons
.Schools can become places that build resilience and inner strength
.We want the schools that have a Merhav space to look and feel completely different
.This is possible – but it requires mobilizing new resources and a new shift in approach
