Neria Balta, 21 years old, from Shvei Shomron, was born to Rahamim and Bat Sheva and came from a large family of 6 brothers and sisters. From childhood he was characterized by strength, spirit, external and internal beauty and curiosity. He loved giving back to his community and always did things for his country. In high school he chose the "Regavim in the Valley" yeshiva where he dedicated himself to manual labor and agriculture, out of a deep belief in the settlements and the land. After graduating, he volunteered in the youth village "Mikva Yisrael", following his older brother Dvir, while devoting himself to the education of adolescent youth. He later enlisted in the Givati Brigade like his family before him, and joined the unit's patrol. In this position, he fought for about a year and a half in different sectors, starting from Nahal Oz, Sderot and finally within Gaza for four consecutive months. At one point he was appointed sergeant of a parallel team, a position he approached with great vigor, despite the difficulty of parting with his close friends. Neria died a heroic death in a battle with terrorists, along with his comrade in arms the late ldo Zarihan, when their quick action prevented another disaster. Neria was a humble and loving person in his character - his friends felt that he was the closest friend. His family and the community of Shevi Shomron lost a brave warrior and a valuable member of the community and a kind soul. May his memory live for ever.
