There are all kinds of people in the world, but Yossi Hershkovitz z”l was one of those who made things happen.
He acted because things were needed, because they mattered, because they had meaning. He did them because he simply could not stand idly by.
Yossi did not just talk about education—he spoke to his students.
He didn’t just play music—he healed hearts.
He didn’t just see—he truly observed.
Yossi did not let life pass him by. He brought light and goodness into it throughout his 44 years and lived a life of meaning.
After Yossi was killed in Gaza in Cheshvan 5784, everyone who knew him understood—this was not the end.
His students, his friends, the people he played for every Friday in the hospital, the neighbors in Gvaot, his family—
They all felt that same invisible thread of action, kindness, love, and deep awareness continue even after he was gone.
Everyone understood that the path he paved had already become a trail others would keep walking. Continuing and expanding.
In order to keep walking that path—
To gather everything that was so deeply “Yossi” and carry it forward—
We chose to establish the Yossi Foundation for Education and Doing Good.
Not as a memorial project, but as a project of life.
Thanks to you, the Foundation will continue doing good in many of the fields Yossi was involved in during his lifetime,
and become a true beacon of light—
in his memory and in his spirit.

Throughout his years as an educational figure, Yossi Hershkovitz developed a complete educational approach that could really impact the world.
We are currently working on publishing a book that presents his educational philosophy over the years, along with developing training and mentorship programs for educators.

Do Meaningful IDF Service / Be Yossi
Yossi viewed service in the IDF not as an obligation, but as a privilege—not just a task, but the realization of Zionism.
With your help, we will accompany young people before enlistment, giving them tools, identity, and inspiration through guidance programs and workshops.

When Yossi z”l and Hadas moved to Gvaot, they chose not just a home—but a community.
But Gvaot isn’t accessible—not for strollers, not for wheelchairs.
Yossi dreamed of building an accessible promenade for everyone. Now we’re making it happen.

Yossi quietly supported struggling families, distributed scholarships, and helped anyone in need—with humility and love.
Now, the Foundation will continue his legacy by offering financial support, guidance, and care in times of hardship.

Every Friday, Yossi brought his guitar to the hospital to bring joy and healing through music.
Today, Yossi’s Squad—a growing group of musicians and friends—keeps the music alive, playing for patients across the country.
But this is just the beginning.
