Connecting the Torah and commemoration
Yanai Weisman HY”D gave his life to save the lives of others, when he chose to fight back against terrorists armed with knives – with his bare hands. Yanai decided not to stand helplessly and watch when he saw terrorists attacking his fellow Jews. He left everything, his wife and their little baby daughter, and ran to help.
In this act of selflessness, Yanai taught us an eternal lesson about brotherhood, dedication, and especially – about risking one’s life to save others.
We at Mechinat Yedidya, together with his family and friends, have decided to commemorate Yanai, reminding ourselves of his unique personality, his smile and friendliness, and so that we will always remember to extend a helping hand to anyone in need.
With your help, we will succeed in bringing a new Torah scroll into Mechinat Yedidya, where Yanai studied and developed prior to enlisting in the IDF. We also hope to dedicate a study room where future generations of students will both focus on learning Torah and on acquiring values of friendship, Zionism, and kindness.
