Dear friends,
We are opening with great excitement the memorial project for our beloved Yoav.
Yoav, who grew up and was educated in Rechelim, was a special young man - loved by all who saw him, finding common ground with everyone, always smiling and radiant, curious and highly creative. He was a talented photographer who captured many events and landscapes. He loved to travel throughout Israel and accumulate many experiences. Yoav would address everyone at "eye level" and infect everyone with his smile, his excellent sense of humor, and his optimism. He had respect for others and a pleasant manner with everyone.
After finishing his studies in Eli, he continued for a year of Torah study and preparation for the army in Ma'ale Efraim, and from there he continued to a yeshiva in Jaffa, which he left earlier than expected due to early enlistment.
Yoav enlisted early in the IDF due to the war, joining the Armored Corps. During basic training, which he started with high motivation and a desire to excel and continue to command, Yoav fell ill with a cold that tragically complicated and led to his sudden and painful death.
Even in his death, Yoav continued to be a source of life and hope by donating his organs to save the lives of several people. This act continues his legacy of giving and love for others, and provides some comfort within the immense pain.
In memory of Yoav, and inspired by his generous spirit, we are beginning to establish "Merkaz Chiburim" (Connection Center) in Rechelim, the settlement where he grew up and loved. The center will be a warm and inviting meeting place, overlooking the landscape that Yoav so loved to photograph and hike. It will be a place that connects people, encourages dialogue and creation, and continues Yoav's legacy of creating connections and broadening horizons.
We invite you to be partners in this special commemoration project, which will continue Yoav's path of connecting hearts and spreading light in our world, as he did in his life and even in his death.
With deep gratitude and appreciation for your support,
The Malick family and friends.
